About classics.best

classics.best is dedicated to preserving and sharing the world's public domain culinary heritage. We believe that the recipes that have shaped how we eat deserve to be accessible to everyone.

Our Mission

We archive classic recipes from published cookbooks that have entered the public domain. Each recipe includes full citations so you can explore the original sources and learn about the history behind the dishes.

Why Public Domain?

Recipes from cookbooks published before 1928 (in the United States) are in the public domain, meaning they can be freely shared and adapted. These recipes represent centuries of culinary knowledge from some of history's greatest cooks.

Our Sources

We source our recipes from digitized cookbooks available through the Internet Archive, Project Gutenberg, and other digital libraries. Every recipe links back to its original source so you can verify the transcription and explore further.
